Callaway Golf’s latest Mack Daddy 4 offering pays homage to the military

Callaway Golf has worked its Mack Daddy wedge line with the efficiency of Phil Mickelson’s short game, offering a number of one-off options to sustain consumer interest in an already well-regarded club. Today brings yet another addition to the Mack Daddy 4 line with the addition of the Tactical model.

The Tactical boasts an aggressive look with a distinct dark PVD finish, black PVD face and black medallions. A limited edition True Temper Black Tour Issue shaft and Lamkin Tactical grip complete the package. There’s a charitable bent as well, with a portion of the proceeds from sales of the wedge donated to the Birdies for the Brave Foundation.

As well, the Mack Daddy 4 Tactical wedges feature Callaway’s groove design which utilizes using two different milling techniques to raise elements above the flat surface between the grooves and then cut further into the surface for the main grooves. The 50- and 52-degree versions have less aggressive grooves for more consistent distance and spin on full shots while the higher lofts have a more aggressive groove.

The wedges are available in lofts ranging from 50 to 60 degrees in two-degree increments in both right-handed and left-handed. Two grinds: the company’s S grind with a wider sole and rear chamfer and the X grind with its higher bounce angle (12 degrees) are available.

The wedges will be at retail on Sept. 21 with a price of $180. Military is eligible for a discount by clicking here.
