The Lincolnwood boys and girls golf teams picked up a pair of conference titles on Saturday, Sept. 15, as they participated in the MSM Conference Tournament at Moweaqua Golf Course.
The Lincolnwood boys would shoot a 326 to beat out South County (377) and Mt. Olive (473) for the team title.
Sam Herman would lead the way for the Lancers, who had four of the top six individuals. Herman shot even-par on the front nine, with a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole, then shot a 3-over-39 on the back nine, with another birdie, this time on the par-5 tenth hole. He would finish his 18-hole round with 11 pars to go along with the two birdies.
Herman’s closest competition would be his teammate, Dade Pitchford, who shot a 7-over-par 79. Pitchford would have nine pars and also made a birdie on the ninth hole.
Andrew Skinner and Michael Jones would both shoot 86s on the day to finish out the scoring for the Lancers, while Devin Brown and Braxton Schmedeke also played well, shooting 88 and 89 respectively.
Of the eight players who broke 90 on Saturday, six played for Lincolnwood, with Tri-City’s Gage Krider, who shot an 80 to finish third, and South County’s Dane Ritchie, who shot an 85 to finish fourth, the only exceptions.
On the girls’ side, Lincolnwood beat out South County 406 to 459, with Cameron Krager earning medalist honors for the Lancers. Krager would have four pars and would shoot a 92 for the day, beating South County’s Reese Jackson by seven strokes.
