Inaugural Punjab Jinnah Golf Tour gets underway

LAHORE: The inaugural Punjab Golf Development Tour got underway at the newly laid out PAF Golf Course here on Friday. It was a history making day for this beautiful golf course as it held this championship for golf professionals for the first time. The Jinnah Development Golf Tour aims to promote golf professionals who seek a place in the national open championships and thus make golf a source of their livelihood. As per criteria laid down by the Punjab Golf Association, eighty one upcoming golf professionals had the honour of being selected to participate in this championship. And through good performance they earned the right of being eligible to participate in the open golf tournaments of the national golf calendar.

At the end of first round of this three-round championship, the most accomplished ones turned out to be Akbar Mehroze, Usman Ali and M Naseer. These three upcoming golf professionals showed ample command and control over their application of golfing expertise, and through an impressive show managed to end the first round with a score of gross 69, three under par. During the first round they reflected good thinking and planned their shots in accordance with the contours of the golf course which required astute planning and crisp shot making from the fairways.

Besides these three outstanding one the others who performed well were Haseeb ur Rehman and Rehan Haider .They completed the first round with a score of gross 70, two under par. A few more with good scores were Dilshad Ali 71, Arshad Ali 71, M Arif 72, Roman Khan 72, and at gross 73 were Ali Sher, Amanat Ali,Shahid Hameed and Shafaq Khan.
