The end of year meeting for the Bega Valley Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN) concluded with a generous surprise. Funds raised at the Chris Claassen Golf Day at the Tura Beach Golf Club in October were presented to Chair of Bega Valley SPAN, Greg Miller, in the form of a check donation at the meeting on Thursday, December 13. The Golf day pays homage to Tura Beach Golf Club member, Crisis Claassen, who died in 2012 in South Africa. It was the second Claassen Charity Day where mens and ladies golf clubs at Tura joined forces in an effort to raise funds for Bega Valley SPAN. This year, a trophy in Ms Claassen’s honour was presented to the best lady’s and best men’s score of the day. Names engraved on the trophy were lucky winners; Lain Keith and Carolyn Gale. The day was a huge success raising over $400, SPAN greatly appreciated the support and thanked Ric, Russell and TBCC Golf Club members.
