GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Elon men’s golf team placed second in the Loyola Intercollegiate, which ended Monday at Palm Valley Golf Club.
Alabama-Birmingham, which was tied for third place entering the final round of the three-day, surged to the title at 18-under-par 846. Elon was at 5-under and Connecticut (861) was third at 3-under in the 17-team field.
Elon’s top golfer was freshman Dawson Daniels, who tied for seven at 3-under 213. Max Ferrari tied for 13th with 216.
Loyola’s (Md.) Evan Brown was the individual champion at 1after carding a one-over 73 on the final round. Dawson Daniels was the bright spot for the Phoenix. Tied for 18th at one-over through Sunday, the freshman hit four-under to move up to a tie for seventh (213).
