AJ Bonar, Moment (Arm) of Truth in Golf, 2018 Be Better Golf

  1. Kinda want to call BS here. What would Nesbit, Manzella, Jeff Martin, Chris Como, and a number of super educated golf scientist/pros/hobbyists say about the "arm length vs club head speed" debate? I think it's all speed.

  2. This video kinda just blew my mind about MOI. Also saying speed doesn’t matter as much as u think, because you can apply more force to the ball at the highest MOI at farest pt of our swing arc?

  3. AJ's DVD is great. I had a case of the shanks once. I was desperate for a fix. Everything I tried made it worse. I finally got AJ's DVD. I watched it and went out the next day and shot -6, 66. What a fix!

  4. I flip my hands, extend early, hit fat shots, hit high weak misses. Basically I make every mistake he talks about. I’ve been working to get my hands in front of the ball by practicing hitting low shots. This is great stuff which rings true to me. Knowing ahead of time what to do. I feel like it’s better than having debilitating swing thoughts. One of my go to shots off the tee is a low stinger with a hybrid. I tend to hit it great when I say to myself, hit it low, get your hands in front of the ball.

  5. Your new camera is excellent! The resolution is beautiful on my computer. I remember now all of AJ's philosophical takes beginning with the nail and the hammer. I bought it quite awhiles back and maybe I ought to review it to make sure I've squeezed out every bit of relevant swing info for me. At the moment I'm trying to fix fat shots because I have a difficult time taking a divot after the ball. Thanks for bringing AJ back he still has lots to contribute towards this awful game. (joking about the awful part)

  6. Teach and fit with Trackman daily. Distance (power) is derived from the proper combination of ball speed, launch angle and spin rate. What I find, without fail, is that if the golfer makes center contact on the clubface, ball speed is directly proportional to swing speed. Doesn't matter if the golfer is flipped and extended at impact, or holding several degrees of shaft lean. In other words, if you're hitting the center of the face, the only thing that's going to make the ball go faster (fly farther) is moving the Club at a greater rate of speed. 100% disagree with the increase mass, heavy hit theory discussed here. If a golfer wants to hit the ball farther, speed has to increase (while solid contact is maintained).

  7. See page 146 of the acclaimed study Search for the Perfect Swing, this group of British scientists say that the clubhead is "free wheeling" at impact. There is as if there is a complete disassociation from the golfer. Speed of the clubhead whether accelerating or deceleration is paramount. The moment of inertia explanation given in the video is not supported. Clubhead speed is what governs.

  8. Enjoyed the video. I am confused if a pro is swinging down on the driver like he said 7-8 degrees with the driver how do the hit up with the driver or have a positive angle of attack? It confuses me

  9. "multiply the weight, times the length of the moment arm squared"  is going to be my new swing thought! no seriously i have had that sensation or should say lack of sensation of hitting the ball and it puzzled me why the ball felt so soft and didn't even make a noise when hitting club face. i suppose it is just a case of trying to repeat it

  10. I enjoyed your interview with AJ. I now understand why forward shaft lean is needed at impact. I think that you still need right wrist flexion/extension for more club head speed, so long as you don't let the club head reach the ball before the left hand.

  11. Hi Brendon, I'm sure you get this question a lot but I really can't help but notice that World number 1, 2, and 3 (Johnson, Rahm, and Spieth) on pga tour rankings all have a bowed left wrist throughout the swing! I know people brush this off the shoulder but I'd love to see some more videos that address this. Do you know if Tony has done many studies on this?

  12. The explanation of 'moment arm' is a revelation. I see a direct connection from AJ's straight left arm at contact (longer moment arm) to Monte's swing thought of getting his left arm 'off his chest'.

  13. Great video…But I hate watching these type of video's.. when spring comes around I will be out there trying a new swing, messing up my game worse. I'm 45 I don't think I'm going to change my swing anymore. I just need to work on my short game, work on feel and my putting.
